Introduction to Memoirs of an American Cowboy

Memoirs

Of An

American Cowboy

In 1876, a young army scout by the name of Angus Crinklaw, while serving with the 7th Cavalry, first under General George Armstrong Custer and (fortunately for his descendants including me) with General Terry, was introduced to the amazing vistas of the Montana Territory. In 1912 his daughter raised a family four miles away from his homestead, near the settlement of Ridge, Montana. The second of their three children was Sherman Hand who was my dad. On June 7, 2010, twenty three days shy of his ninety-eighth birthday he passed away. Before he did, however, my mom and he wrote and printed stories of his life. My nephew Steven Hand, edited these stories into the Memoirs of an American Cowboy. For those of you who grow impatient to read the rest of the story, there is a link to purchase a copy of your own. For the rest of you, I will be posting stories from the book and other of his stories to this blog as time permits. You can also follow us on Facebook, Twitter, My Space, Linked–In and Yahoo.

This blog is dedicated to the memory of Sherman Hand 6/30/1912 to 6/7/2010.
